A touchingly intimate young nude, perhaps representing one of her daughters. With long fine brushstrokes Clemmensen reaches a high plasticity.

Clearly visible are the influences of the École de Paris, with its typical bar guide and the Nabis-like model expression.

 

AUGUSTA THEJLL CLEMMENSEN (Charlottenlund 1884 – 1980 Lyngby)

She was the daughter of the famous Danish architect Andreas Thejll. She was married in first marriage with the painter Ernst Goldschmidt, in a second marriage with the architect Mogens Clemmensen.
